Never lose a needle again with this simple and sharp fabric and felt needle holder! This can be created with fabric remnants that you may already have lying about, or you can scan our awesome inventory of fabrics—we have everything from modern to whimsical, fleece to lace!
This may be the easiest fabric craft ever
You will need:
• A D-ring
• Scissors
• Ruler
• Fabric of choice
• Wool felt lining material (substitute fleece, velvet or similar material if you please)
You can add several pages pins and needles, and you can actually make this any shape you choose–the hexagon is quite trendy, however!
Steps:
1. Once you decide on a shape, draw it with a ruler and cut out your pattern. Then use the pattern to cut 2 pieces of wool felt liner.
2. Iron and machine stitch
3. Trace your hexagon again on more felt. Space about 1.25” apart, leaving 5/8” wide section along center and trim away the remainder. The section connecting your two hexagons will become your hanging loop. (See photo below)
4. Before stitching, fold the felt in half, roll up one side and stuff it through the D-ring. Then stitch.
5. Layer your print fabric of choice on the outer sides and secure with thread or fabric adhesive.
Don’t forget to leave the loop!
Fold the hexagons together, placing your D-ring in the loop for easy storage
We also have a great tutorial for a felt needle book, look for it this week! A needle book provides more space for your tools as your crafting hobby grows!
