As with our Top Five Women’s Halloween Pop Culture Costume Ideas, we tried to pull as much inspiration for our top five guy costumes from what is happening in the media. Our favorite idea for this year is the classic pilot look inspired by the new show Pan Am. We can’t think of a guy who wouldn’t get a second glance in a well fitted pilots uniform. And the best part is, this costume can easily be achieved by attaching some thin gold trim to an existing suit jacket.
#1: Pilot
Inspiration: ABC’s Pan Am
Look sky- ready by modifying an old suit and adding some extra buttons and gold trim. Top it off with a hat and you are ready for take-off.
#5: Batman
Inspiration: The upcoming release of The Dark Knight Rises
To get this look without trying to factor in bullet proof material, you can always just sew layers of thick faux leather to make costume seem invincible.
#3: Hipster
Inspiration: The overwhelming number of hipsters populating the US
The hipster look is easy to achieve. Just wear a flannel shirt, skinny jeans, big fake glasses, and a false mustache.
#4: Captain America
Inspiration: Captain America: The First Avenger
Red, white, and blue spandex with jeans and a utility belt are the key pieces for Captain America. In addition, it may not be very masculine, but regular old dish gloves are great as an accent for this costume.
#5: Hugh Hefner
Inspiration: NBC’s The Playboy Club
This iconic look can easily be put together with red and black silk. If you want to go the extra mile, add a pipe for extra measure!
Wether you decided to be a hero, a hipster, or Hef, we hope that you have a great time this Halloween. Just remember, with that shiny red silk robe comes a lot of responsibility.
