Everyone thinks of little girls when they think of dress-up, but why should boys be left out? Here are 5 projects to make yourself, where your little man gets to have some imput too!
1. Superhero Cape- Capes are the classic dress-up piece. Superhero capes are easy to make and you can go with solid fabrics or use your little guy’s favorite superhero fabric.

2. Utility Belt- Every superhero and astronaut has a utility belt. All you need is some wide elastic to make a waistband, velcro to close it and small loops and pockets to hold things. You could even start with a small fanny pack and go from there. Here’s some inspiration!

3. Cowboy Vest- You’ll need a pattern for this one, but it the fabric is totally up to you. You can go with a lining for a more authentic feel, but it can be as basic as you like. Even a fleece vest with velcro closures will do the trick.

4. Sheriff Star- This one’s a perennial favorite. Kids can make the cardboard and tinfoil classic themselves, or use felt. Felt is a great material for kids crafts in general; it’s soft enough to work with, stiff enough to last and doesn’t fray. If you decide to make it a stand-alone piece, just be careful of pins with little hands. Velcro is a great alternative.

5. Doctor outfit- Doctor outfits traditionally mean the long white coat, but those can be a lot of work for something that eventually gets outgrown. An easy idea is to re-purpose a white button down shirt. Hemmed straight with the ‘doctor’s’ name sewn or painted on is a great look-alike. Add a few pockets and you’re done.
