Everyone needs a sewing kit. Whether it’s a little one for the car or a decked-out sewing box to leave at home, when a button pops off or a hem falls you need something to get the job done. Here’s 5 of the coolest and wildest online at the moment.
1. My first sewing kit– This fun kit is a great way to get kids into sewing. Just be sure your child is old enough- needles are sharp!

2. REI travel kit-Here’s one of the more utilitarian of the bunch. It’s got lots of different threads, scissors, a measuring tape and almost everything you need to fix wardrobe malfunctions in a pinch.

3.Sail sewing kit-This one is for the sailors out there. This purpose-specific kit is for repairing sails and includes twine, sailmaker’s needles, a sewing all and other supplies all boxed up in a floating waterproof box.
4. Smythson sewing kit- This, to me, is the most ridiculous of the bunch. This lovely leather- bound kit retails for $1150 and can’t be bought online. It appeared in Vogue a few years ago and is made by Smythson on High Street in London. Even though purple is my favorite color I couldn’t spring for this one- I’d rather buy a new wardrobe instead.

5. Historic sewing kit– This one’s for the history buffs out there. It would be perfect for a demonstration at a renaissance fair or to make your costume as authentic as it gets.

So there you have 5 unique, cool, or crazy sewing kits. If you’re looking for something a bit more basic you can find our sewing kit right here. Happy sewing!
