The Baylor Bears compete in the powerful Big Twelve conference of the NCAA. Since joining the Big Twelve in 1997, the Bears have won two NCAA team national titles - in men's tennis in 2004, and in women's basketball in 2005.
Since joining the Big Twelve, the Bears have fielded formidable baseball teams. Baylor owns the best conference record since joining the Big Twelve at 137-83.
Despite disappointing results in recent seasons, the Bears' football team competes in a long standing rivalry with the Texas A&M Aggies known as the "Battle of Brazos", after the Brazos River that flows by both universities. The Aggies and Bears have played each other every year since 1931 except for the years 1943 and 1944. Texas A&M currently leads the series 65-30.
