Frida's Garden Fabric is a textile homage to the prominent Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. Her famous self-portraits and other works have garnered her international attention and secured her posthumous reputation as one of Mexico's greatest artists.
Frida's Garden Fabric incorporates elements of her culture without making explicit references to her paintings. This imaginative design by Phillip de León shows stylized depictions of Kahlo amidst jungle surroundings. The print includes exotic plants, flowers and fruit as well as tiny gray monkeys and blue snakes. The background is cream.
The design includes two Spanish phrases:
"Pies para qué las quiero, si tengo alas pa' volar" - Feet... what do I need them for if I have wings to fly with?
"Tengo ganas a vivir. Ya comencé a pintar" - I desire to live. I have already begun to paint.
Frida's Garden is an enchanting fabric that will introduce a strange and inviting allure to your fabric projects. Quilts, draperies, bed sheets, garments, crafts, table covers, lampshades, pet clothing and much more will become irresistible expressions of your imagination.
