|The Missouri Tigers participate in the Big 12 athletic
conference in a variety of sports. The University of Missouri is the only
Missouri university currently playing in the NCAA's Division I-A.
Although never consistently a powerhouse, the Missouri Tigers
have enjoyed success in the sports they participate in. The football program,
for instance, has won 12 conference championships: 1909, 1913, 1919, 1924, 1925,
1927, 1939, 1941, 1942, 1945, 1960 and 1969. The tigers have also appeared in 24
bowl games, compiling a 10-14 record in the process.
In basketball, the Tigers have won 15 conference
championships and 6 conference tournament championships. The Tigers have also
made 21 trips to the NCAA Tournament, advancing as far as the Elite 8 on four
occasions. The Tigers regular season conference championships came in 1918,
1920, 1921, 1922, 1930, 1939, 1940, 1976, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1987, 1990 and
1994. Missouri's conference tournament championships all came when the Big 12's
was still known as the Big 8: 1978, 1982, 1987, 1989, 1991 and 1993.
The Missouri Tigers' baseball program has been perhaps the
most successful of the University's sports programs. The Tigers have won 15
conference championships: 1930, 1931, 1937, 1938, 1941, 1942, 1952, 1954, 1958,
1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1976 and 1980. The Tigers also won a national title in
