The Kansas University Jayhawks are one of college basketballs legendary programs. Throughout their history, the Jayhawks have won four national championships while playing in the powerful conference known today as the Big Twelve. To date, the men's basketball program - begun in 1898 - is the third winningest in the NCAA.

Over the years, many star players have graced the roster of KU. Nevertheless, oftentimes the Jayhawks' stars were the coaches, many of whom became nationally recognized figures. The Jayhawks' men's basketball coaches:

The Jayhawks' basketball success has been a constant since the early part of the 20th century. Since 1908, KU has won 50 regular season conference championships. Here they are by conference:

  • Big Six: 12 - 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1936, 1937, 1938, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1946

In all KU has won 11 NCAA national championships. In addition to the aforementioned four, the Jayhawks have won 3 in men's indoor track and field, three in men's outdoor track and field, and one in men's cross country.
