|The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs compete in the Western Athletic
Conference of the NCAA's Division I. Out of all the sports that Louisiana Tech
sponsors, the greatest success has been had in women's basketball. As one of the
traditional powers in women's college basketball, the Lady Techsters have
appeared in the championship game six times, winning twice. First, they defeated

Techsters' second national title came in 1988, when they defeated Auburn.
Various great players in other sports played their college

basketball for the Utah Jazz- and Terry Bradshaw, the Hall of Fame quarterback
for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the 1970s.
