Starting in late October, the calls for warm winter polar fleeces start pouring in at J&O Fabrics. Seems everyone from our urban retail specialty shops to our suburban housewives have the same idea in mind…creating unique one of a kind fleece outerwear, crafts and accessories for the upcoming season and satisfying the never ending demand from their friends, families and customers. From major league sport divisions like NFL, NBA and MLB, to college teams, military, and novelty prints, fleece is the fabric of choice when the winter winds start to blow.

One demand that has yet to be met in the mayhem of requests is the desire for NY Giants polar fleece. With thousands of fans nationwide pining for this highly prized and sought after material, it makes you wonder why the fabric mills haven’t jumped on the demand bandwagon and printed a few designs out for these pleading football fans. And when I say fabric mills, I am speaking mainly of Fabric Traditions. As the only manufacturer of licensed NFL and MBL fabrics, Fabric Traditions provides a majority of our craft and textile goods stores with cottons and fleeces for teams like the Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, NY Mets, San Francisco 49er’s and a plethora more. When asked by some of the store owners and buyers alike, why they won’t throw their potential customers a bone, they simply stated that “It would not be cost efficient to print the Giants fleece, since the demand is not high enough”. Well, as a customer service rep at one of the top online fabric outlets, I’m here to say “Wake up!”
