Dear Netfah,
Forgive me for asking such a silly question, but I received on of those 'no sew' fleece throws for Christmas and I am really excited about creating a few for friends and family this winter but I am somewhat of a novice and am finding it challenging to decide which kind of fleece is the right kind to use. I went on line to purchase some for my project and was overwhelmed at the selection. At any rate, I wanted to know what the difference between polar fleece, winter fleece, poly-fleece, and micro-fleece really is, and which is better suited for the throws? Your input would be really helpful in guiding my decision. Thank you. -Too Many Choices, Boise IDDear Too Many Choices,
Don't feel silly. With so many different manufacturers and advancements in the fabric textile industry, it's hard to keep up with the names and it can often times be quite confusing. In reference to the fleece you are interested in for your project, the best kind to look for would be a heavyweight polyester polar fleece. As opposed to the natural fleece derived from sheep's wool, synthetic poly fleece is softer, easier to care for, and much less expensive. Plus it is recycled from plastic bottles, making it a 'green' eco-friendly material. In regards to your question surrounding the variations between the four, hopefully my synopsis will make your shopping a little easier. There are three main weight categories of fleece which can be used for a throw, depending on how warm a blanket you desire. Micro-fleeces are the lightest and are best suited for the spring season. Medium weight fleece is the next in weight and is used to make a lot of outerwear and accessories geared for fall weather. It is similar to the weight of sweat pants. The heaviest fleece is called winter or polar fleece. Like most fleeces, polar fleece has an excellent weight-to-insulation ratio making it not only lightweight, but very warm. The material itself is created to pull away moisture yet retain body heat and dryness. And speaking of dryness, a good polyester fleece will be water resistant, so look for that quality when comparing if making throws geared to weather the elements of nature.

They say every man is born with a purpose, and from an early age, the unseen hand of purpose was upon Barack Obama; molding and shaping him, guiding him into and throughout his political career until his purpose met with victory at the 2008 presidential elections. A victory meant for him at this place and this time in the evolution of mankind. A purpose no more and no less than the little girl who grows up to become a successful actress or the little boy who becomes a starving artist. That all three honored their respective purposes is the dream most wish and strive to fulfill.
And speaking of dreams...
J&O has a dream come true just for you. For a limited time you don't have to travel all the way to Washington, D.C. to get a sight of this history making president, instead, just come over to
J&O Fabrics and meet him face to face! That's right, Barack Obama is right here at
J&O Fabrics just in time for you to make a special request his presence in your home, office, or as an inspirational travel companion along your journey through life. Reflect in his presence, the road that lead him to the White House and the many motivational speeches he gave along the way.
Whether Democratic or Republic, rich or poor, or any walk of life, there is something to be said about the spoken hopes and dreams of Barack Obama. Barack Obama, a man with a mission and a message. Barack Obama, a man with a vision for humanity. Barack Obama, history in the making, making history for the whole world to see.
Our 44th President summed it up best during his speech following the Super Tuesday results in February 08' when he said simply, "
We are the ones we have been waiting for."
We all have a purpose, a part to play in this thing called life. So play it to win. You never know where it will lead you.

Military blankets are a great gift for your loved ones at home & abroad this season. And hand-crafted blankets carrying the stars, stripes and emblems of the military branch they represent are especially nice not only during the holidays, but year round.
You don't need to have any sewing skills to create one either. With
J&O's wide selection of 100% poly-winterfleece and a pair of scissors, you can make a warm & lightweight blanket for that special someone, or even yourself. Just follow the easy step instructions below and watch your fabric turn into an armor of pride that they can keep warm under when they need it most.
Step One:

Come to
J&O Fabrics and pick from a selection of Military fleece fabrics representing the teams you or your loved ones follow. Have a store employee cut the fabric into a 2-4yard length depending on the size of the individual who will be wrapped inside (or 1 yard for a little one).
Step Two:
Wash the fabric with cold water on gentle cycle, or hand wash. Any detergent will do. Lay fabric flat to dry.
Step Three:
Lay fabric out on a large flat surface. Turn one of the shorter ends towards you and smooth out any wrinkles.
Step Four:
Cut a fringe along one short side by making 3-inch deep straight cuts about a 1/2-1 inch apart.
Step Five:
Tie a single knot at the base of each cut strip to complete the fringe along one side of the blanket.
Step Six:
Turn the fleece to the other short side and smooth out the wrinkles. Make the same size cuts a 1/2-inch apart and then tie knots to match the other side.
Step Seven:
Step back and pat yourself on the back. Your completed military no-sew fleece blanket is done! Give as a gift or keep for yourself.
