Have some FUN with Trims!
Here at J&O we carry a huge amount of trims. Most of our trim customers are professional Interior Designers, Set Designers or upholsterers. They use the trims for elaborate draperies and high end furniture.
Personally, I love embellishments, and I love a challenge. When I started working here and feasted my eyes on these trims naturally I did not think much beyond the normal use. Now that I see them everyday my mind has started to work overtime on what I could do with these cools finds. Here are a few ideas I've come up with:
TasselsI love, love, love tassels! My favorite use for them is to have them hanging from an evening bag.
New or old bag, one or more tassels there are several ways to make use of them on a bag.
They look great hanging from the pointed areas of the purse, corners, tips of folded flaps or at the end of the drawstrings. Great to spruce up an older bag!
Corded Bra
ids with or without a lip
Cords with no lip make for perfect handles or draw strings on bags. A small piece hot glued to a plastic headband is a great way to jazz up your hair! A cord with a lip helped me out of a sewing jam, I made some curtains and cut the length too short so I added the cord in between the finish length and the additional inches.
Hint: The lip on a cord can be easily removed with a seam ripper.
Tassel FringeWhen you find that your little girls pants still fit in the waist, but not in the length try a few layers of tassel fringe to lengthen the hem or finish off a pair of cropped pants.
Gimp BraidsI really like to use these fancy braids for embellishment on almost anything! Handbags, tees, vests, boxes, or scrap books to name a few. These work great as handles too.
RosettesI'm still working on these, they are just to pretty to ignore! I like placing them
on top of the magnetic closure of a handbag. Maybe to use as a
cover-up for an old favorite sweater with moth holes. They
have some weight to them so perhaps on denim.
