Last we met regarding Extreme Home Makeover’s: Marrero Family Highlights, we took a visual and sensual tour through what you & the
J&O Family considered to be one of the more stylish and appealing rooms. In this article we will revisit their formal sitting room and delve into some of the fabrics used to fashion the space reserved for guests and modest entertaining.
When we first saw the cream and wine themed room, we instantly felt welcomed and warm. As the Extreme Home Makeover camera roamed the interior of the space, we saw how the recess lighting, low lit table lamps, strategically placed candles and see through fire place all complimented the look and feel.
The dark harvest palette of burgundy, winter grey and chestnut added richness to the vanilla cream walls and textured sofa. A deep carmine tapestry dressed the far wall, creating the visual effect of a more enclosed space, while also providing the viewer with a more intimate feel.
The highlight of the room was the use of J&O’s rich wine colored velvet suede fabric. The supple hand of this designer fabric as well as its rich color, make it a fashionable material for window dressing. In the winter months it will provide layers of protection against Mother Nature’s fury, and create a coziness in the home at the end of the day. In the warmer months, the soft and decadent fabric can be pulled to the sides to offer in plenty of light and fresh air.
Fabrics truly have the ability to inspire and create. They add texture and character to a room or piece of furniture, and can enhance or subdue the energy of a space through color alone. If nothing else, the design ideas from Extreme Makeover Home Edition, will put a spark in you to bring your creative vision to life through fabric. Until next time, make your house into a home with fabric from J&O.

We’ve gotten some great feedback from our Extreme Makeover: Marrero Family Finally and thought we’d take a moment to do some highlights on the rooms you loved the best.
The first room we will be focusing on is the walk through living and dining area. As you were able to see in our last write up, yards of our Camel Cotton fabric dressed the front and side windows of this fabulous area of the house. From the time you walk in thru the front door, you are met with an open and airy look and feel. The house itself suddenly seems longer because there are no dividers or walls separating the living, dining or kitchen areas. No obstacles block your walkway, and the same soft flowing material garnishing the windows along the way, create a reserved yet inviting stream of sunlight into an already brightly lit area.

Our White Suede fabric wrapped around the cushioned base and backs of the dining room chairs offer an additional luxury to the dining experience. Don’t let the light color and fabulous look fool you. The fact that it is created with a polyester also makes it very resilient, quick drying, and easy to wash.
The feeling is harmonious and unifying. And with such a big family, the décor of these rooms together is just the right combination for making a house feel like a home. This is a great area not only for living, but entertaining as well. Holidays, football season and big family breakfasts will never be the same when gathering in this welcoming space. Even the Marrero family’s Fen Sui artist friends will find its free flowing layout quietly appealing.

Well, did you watch the November 4th airing of
Extreme Makeover Home Edition: Marrero Family as suggested in our September blog? No? Then let me tell you what you missed. The J&O family was front in center to critique the show’s designer’s use of the fabulous fabrics they selected to decorate & beautify the new South Jersey home. We watched along with thousands of Americans as they moved that bus and swung open the front door into their modernized oasis.

Yards of our Camel Cotton dressed the front sitting area, offering softness to the rich chocolate colored leather seating. The same soft & flowing material could be seen garnishing the dining room’s windows as well, creating a reserved yet inviting stream of sunlight into the already brightly lit area. You can view our
cotton twill, canvas and duck cloth fabrics.
While still in the dining room, we can see how the Extreme Makeover Home Edition’s design team made use of J&O’s beautiful White Suede, as they wrapped the cushioning of all 8 dining chairs to create a simple yet luxurious feel to the family’s home. Serving and entertaining friends and family at this table is sure to make them want to stay for more. You can view our
upholstery fabric and
suede cloth fabric.

For a more sleek look & feel, EMHE used our Wine Velvet fabric for the living room. Hung from ceiling to floor, they provided a nice richness against the cream colored furniture. In the spring & summer, they can be pulled to the side to offer in plenty of light and fresh air. In the colder months, they will offer an extra line of fashionable protection against the blustering winds that blow. You can view our
velvet and
ultra suede fabric.
Finally, we enter into the family room where we find our brightly colored Tangerine Satin finished fabric hung from ceiling to floor. This drapery accents the British Imperial Seal printed wallpaper that makes this room especially unique. You can see all the colors of our
Satin fabric.

So there you have it. It's always interesting to see the many different ways a few yardages of material can transform a piece of furniture or a window frame into a beautiful space for living.
The J&O Family gives these decorators and interior designers a satisfactory score. But we’re curious to hear from you. If you watched the airing of the Marrero Family’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition and want to comment, please do so. We’d love to hear from you!
