Late rallies and dramatic come-from-behind victories are the stuff sports legends are made of. Last nigth we witnessed one when our hometown Philadelphia Phillies staged a dramatic rally in the bottom of the 9th inning to steal a victory from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Early in the game the Phillies struck first, taking a 2-0 lead into the 4th inning. Between the 4th and 6th innings the Dodgers took the lead 4-2. The Phillies scored once more in the 6th to get within striking distance. Then the 9th inning happened. With one out pinch-hitter Matt Stairs was walked followed by Carlos Ruiz getting hit by a pitch. After the following batter was retired Jimmy Rollins stepped into the batter's box with two outs. On the third pitch of the at-bat, Rollins made contact with a fastball for a double, driving in the tying and winning runs to pull out the win for the Phillies. The team now has a commanding 3-1 lead in the series and needs one more victory to secure a second straight trip to the World Series.
