Burlap Fabric Category Description:
Some fabrics acquire a certain reputation and have a hard time shaking it. Burlap is certainly one of those fabrics; it has a reputation for being drab and uncomfortable. It may be hard to think of uses for burlap outside of potato sacks.

The misconception of burlap as a rough, primitive fabric could prevent you from discovering the true nature of this versatile deorative and craft fabric.

The Uses of Burlap
Burlap is tough and durable enough for use in construction and crafts. It can also be used as a weed barrier. Burlap can be used for backing for rugs, wall hangings, upholstery and decorative dollies.

Burlap can ce embroidered with fabric scraps, yarn and other remnants to create wall hangings. It can also be employed with the ends sewn up for a rustic window treatment. Stretched over a frame it can be used as an alternative to canvas for painting.

Washing Burlap
Caring for burlap is tricky since it can shrink, fray on the edges and become very wrinkled. One simple method of cleaning your burlap fabrics is to simply shake them and hang them outside. The sunlight might bleach away lighter stains and odors can air out.

If you must washa stain out, do so by hand and then hang the burlap to dry.

How To Store Your Burlap
If you are storing these burlap fabrics we recommend rolling them on a tube to prevent the creasing that comes with folding. Furthermore, avoid storing your burlap fabrics in attics, basements and other places that tend to be vulnerable to mold, mildew, insects and other threats. The best storage location is a cool, dry room. If using a closet, make sure there is sufficient air circulation to prevent mold growth. Always store your burlap fabrics out of direct sunlight.
